About

My name is Lee Sawyer. I was born and raised in Norfolk, Virginia and make my home in Chesapeake.  I graduated from Great Bridge High School and earned my B.S. and M.S. in Applied Mathematics at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA.  I studied under Dr. John Tweed and with Dr. Gordon Melrose at ODU.  My professors studied under the famous mathematician Ian Sneddon at the University of Glasgow, who guest lectured at ODU when I studied there.

I worked as a defense contractor for 30 years applying my mathematical skills in Navy and Joint Operations Analysis.  I am currently a DoD civilian supporting Navy planning, programming and capabilities analysis.

I am an active member of Great Hope Baptist Church and am married to Debbie, my wife of over 30 years.  We raised three boys who all have attained B.S. degrees in mathematical related disciplines.  I want to share my God-given ability in math with students desiring to understand the subject more fully.
